About Xneural

Xneural develops next-generation airspace surveillance systems based on distributed radar sensors and cloud-based AI perception. Our mission is to make the lower airspace visible through Drone Detection as a Service deployed on existing telecommunications infrastructure.

We are building a highly scalable radar perception platform capable of detecting, tracking, and classifying airborne objects in complex real-world environments.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Linux Engineer to take ownership of the embedded Linux platform powering our radar sensor nodes.

You will lead the complete software lifecycle from hardware bring-up on custom PCBs through production-ready firmware, secure OTA updates, and long-term maintainability. Working closely with hardware, radar signal processing, AI, and cloud engineers, you will establish the embedded software architecture for a scalable sensor platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead embedded Linux bring-up on custom ARM-based hardware platforms
  • Develop and maintain Yocto-based Linux distributions and BSPs including bootloaders, kernel configuration, device trees, and peripheral drivers
  • Design and implement secure device platforms, including secure boot, firmware signing and robust OTA update mechanisms with rollback support
  • Design debugging, logging, and remote diagnostics infrastructure
  • Work with the team to design reproducible build environments and CI/CD pipelines for embedded software development
  • Define embedded software architecture and provide technical leadership, driving best practices and mentoring engineers as the team grows

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of hands-on embedded Linux development experience
  • Strong expertise with Yocto Project and Linux BSP development
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-A based embedded systems
  • Solid programming skills in C and Python, C++, or Rust
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux security, secure boot, firmware signing, and system hardening
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, and reproducible software builds
  • Ability to debug hardware/software interactions using laboratory equipment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Nice to Have

  • Experience with radar systems, RF engineering, DSP, or signal processing
  • Experience with heterogeneous SoCs combining Linux and RTOS environments
  • Familiarity with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar RTOS
  • Contributions to open-source projects (Linux Kernel, Yocto, U-Boot, RAUC, SWUpdate, Mender)
  • Experience mentoring engineers and growing technical teams
  • German language skills are beneficial but not required

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to build the embedded foundation of a next-generation distributed radar platform
  • Work on cutting-edge radar, embedded Linux, AI, and cloud technologies
  • Direct collaboration with experienced founders and industry experts
  • Startup culture with high ownership, fast decision-making, and direct technical impact
  • Modern engineering environment with AI-assisted development workflows
  • Competitive compensation package including VSOP participation
  • Flexible hybrid working model
  • Office location in Dresden, Germany
